Ward 11 Candidate Skylar Franke is calling on people who want to see more women in politics to #SupportHer in the upcoming municipal election, citing the need for a council that is more representative of the population of London.
London’s current council is made up of four women and eleven men, and two councillors-of-colour. In terms of percentages, London’s City Council is 73% male-identifying and 86% white. The United Nations target is 30% of elected officials should be female to better represent constituents, given that slightly over 50% of Canada's population identifies as female.
Do you want to see more female identifying folks elected to office? Come out and canvass with Skylar on Oct 15th and show you #SupportHer - or find another female identifying candidate in your ward to volunteer with. We know that when we #AddWomenChangePolitics, we can build a more inclusive, sustainable and resilient city that represents the concerns of the community.
